In-Situ Synthesis of CuF2 Integrated Cathodes for High-Performance Lithium Metal Batteries with Superb Stability

0 citations

Abstract

Abstract Copper fluoride (CuF2) exhibits high theoretical specific capacity and an attractive redox potential, making it a promising lithium metal batteries (LMBs) cathode material. Nevertheless, its cycling performance remains inadequate, with severe capacity loss occurring over the first few cycles and leading to poor reversibility. Herein, a CuF2/copper foam (CuF2/CF) integrated cathode is constructed by in situ synthesizing CuF2 on CF substrate using a facile hydrothermal method and further annealing process. The in situ fluorination of the conductive three-dimensional (3D) porous CF may effectively inhibit the further dissolution of CuF2 in the organic electrolyte and enhances the electron and ion transport capabilities. The optimized CuF2/CF integrated cathode delivers an excellent specific capacity of 762 mAh g–1 and exhibits excellent cycling performance. This work provides a feasible strategy to solve the solubility problem of CuF2 as a cathode material for LMBs.
