ERIES-REVAULTS Pseudo-Dynamic tests on a full-scale masonry cross vault system: dataset

Open access0 citations

Abstract

This paper presents the dataset generated within the ERIES-REVAULTs experimental campaign, aimed at investigating the in-plane shear behaviour of masonry cross vaults, representative of historic churches. In post-earthquake surveys, the damage associated with this type of mechanism is frequently observed as it is caused by the differential longitudinal displacements of vaults’ supports. To investigate this behaviour, a full-scale masonry specimen was constructed at the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment (ELSA), Joint Research Centre (JRC), Ispra, Italy, and tested using Pseudo-Dynamic (PsD) testing technique, to reproduce the seismic action. The experimental campaign included an initial testing phase on the as-built specimen during which a seismic action was applied. Then, repair, strengthening with a Steel-Reinforced Grout (SRG) system and a second testing phase under the same seismic input conditions followed. The paper includes information on the specimen’s geometry, its construction details, materials, strengthening intervention, test setup, actuators configuration, instrumentation and loading protocols. Most of this information is also included in the shared dataset.
