Abstract
Abstract This review engages in dialogue with Magree's methodological assumptions (literary, rhetorical, philosophical and theological) and approach to the history of reception of this critically important Pauline passage (Philippians 2:7) and then provides a critical assessment of the textual evidence for his contention that Origen of Alexandria regarded this passage as ‘foundational’ for all exegesis and for ‘the Christian claim of human salvation in Christ’ (p. 70).
