Synthetic Patient Record Configurator and Adaptation Guide
Abstract
A single-file browser application that assembles prompts for the generation and review of synthetic clinical records. It encodes the procedural knowledge of one service, a community mental health transfer of care caseload in South Australia, accumulated through the iterative generation and clinician review of a twelve-record synthetic corpus. The rules in the tool were not designed. They were found one at a time, by generating a record and reading it as a clinician until something was wrong. They are specific to the service they came from. Adapting the approach to another setting means repeating that process and building a rule set for that setting rather than editing this file. The accompanying adaptation guide sets out what transfers and what does not. The tool has three modes: generation, review, and a migration mode that produces an error register for records generated before the register existed. It generates nothing itself. It assembles instructions that a language model acts on, and a record has not been validated by the act of being generated. This deposit contains the Configurator at tool version 2.8.1, with validation rules version 8, and the Adaptation Guide at version 2.3, both dated 29 August 2026. Later revisions are deposited as new versions of this record. Files are restricted. Enquiries about use in another setting, and about collaboration, are welcome.
