Plant-mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles via Dolichandrone falcata extract with their antimicrobial and anticancer efficacy
Abstract
This research explores the green synthesis of Ag NPs using the Dolichandrone falcata leaf extract and evaluates their antifungal, antibacterial, and anticancer efficacy. SEM and TEM characterization showed spherical particles with a mean diameter of 71.3 ± 10 nm. The biosynthesized Df -Ag NPs exhibited antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger , and Trichoderma viride , with inhibition zones of 9 ± 1.38 mm, 9 ± 1.43 mm, 10 ± 1.68 mm, and 9 ± 1.33 mm, respectively. Df -Ag NPs induced apoptosis in A431 lung cancer cells with an IC 50 value of 65.25 µg/mL, while being compatible with normal human fibroblast BEAS-2B cells. These findings suggest the potential of Df -Ag NPs as anticancer agents. This study presents an environmentally sustainable method for synthesizing silver nanoparticles using the natural reducing and capping agents in the Dolichandrone falcata .
