Review compares epigenetic drugs with chemotherapy in relapsed T-cell lymphoma

This meta-analysis examined 38 studies involving 2,170 people with relapsed or treatment-resistant peripheral T-cell lymphoma. Regimens containing an epigenetic drug had tumor response rates similar to conventional chemotherapy, but the studies reported higher one-year progression-free and overall survival rates with the epigenetic-containing regimens. Because the comparisons were based mainly on separate cohorts rather than randomized trials, the results show an association rather than proof that one approach caused better outcomes.

Review examines targeted immune-cell treatments in stomach and junction cancers

This systematic review examined seven early-phase human studies of treatments directed at the CLDN18.2 protein in gastric and gastroesophageal-junction cancers. Across 396 mostly previously treated patients, the studies reported tumor responses and frequent but generally low-grade cytokine release syndrome; the researchers said the results need confirmation in randomized trials.

Review examines cell therapies for children’s brain tumors

This systematic review examined experimental immune-cell therapies for pediatric brain tumors, combining preclinical animal studies with early clinical evidence. Animal studies reported antitumor activity for several targets, while small clinical programs reported some tumor regressions, stable disease, and treatment-related side effects that varied by delivery route. The findings are preliminary and do not establish a routine treatment for patients.
