Analytical study on titan yellow sensing using a poly (phenylalanine)-modified carbon nanotube electrochemical sensor
Abstract
Abstract In the current work, a poly (phenylalanine) modified carbon composite paste electrode (PPCNTPE) allowed for the simple electrochemical measurement of Titan yellow (TY) utilizing differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). PPCNTPE was synthesized using electro polymerization method and analysed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The electrochemical results revealed that PPCNTPE increased the rate of TY oxidation by increasing the peak current and decreasing the peak potential as compared to the bare carbon nanotube paste electrode (BCNTPE), making the oxidation process thermodynamically more favourable. The modified sensor had a good sensitivity for simultaneous detection of TY, Carmoisine (CM), and methyl orange (MO). In a linear working range of 20–400 µM, a good detection limit of 0.1034 µM was obtained for TY. The built sensor was successfully used for real sample analysis, with outstanding recovery performance.
