Engaging with Student Perspectives of AI to Build Better Assignments and Enhance Learning
Abstract
This workshop will present data from recent student focus groups and surveys that collected students’ common uses and attitudes about AI. Additionally, anecdotal evidence from faculty workshops that include conversations about AI will be presented. This data will be used to generate conversations about what faculty and staff want to know about students' AI perspectives and uses. These student and faculty perspectives will guide reflection about how we may adapt our support and learning opportunities to engage students' thinking and development while still building AI literacy and leveraging the possibilities created by AI. Attendees will be invited to consider what campus and community partnerships could support their inclusion of high impact assignments that invite students’ engagement in their learning.
