Angular Dependence of Magnetoresistance with Twofold and Fourfold Symmetries and a Large Topological Hall Effect in a Ferrimagnetic Mn2SbBe0.1 Single Crystal

Abstract

Abstract Ferrimagnetic intermetallics with inequivalent magnetic sublattices host rich magneto-transport properties arising from competing interactions and anisotropy. We report on a Mn2SbBe0.1 single crystal, where interstitial Be tunes the anisotropic response under strong in-plane magnetic anisotropy. The anisotropy of magnetoresistance evolves from twofold symmetry at high temperatures to a fourfold component at low temperatures, driven by the interplay of tetragonal crystal field effects and spin−orbit coupling-mediated spin-dependent scattering. A field-induced crossover from fourfold (high-field) to twofold (low-field) symmetry reveals a transition from collinear to noncollinear spin configurations. A large topological Hall resistivity (∼1.6 μΩ cm), peaking near the spin-reorientation transition, indicates non-trivial spin textures such as skyrmion with finite scalar spin chirality and emergent real-space Berry curvature. The planar Hall effect signature at room temperature further supports anisotropic scattering. Overall, Mn2SbBe0.1 emerges as a distinctive member of the Mn2Sb family for engineering anisotropy-driven magnetic devices with potential implications for spintronic functionalities.
