Aloe Vera Extract-Assisted Hydrothermal Synthesis of CuO Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue Dye

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Different plant extract-assisted hydrothermal synthesis offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional approaches for sustainable technological production. Our research explores this environmentally beneficial terrain by presenting copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) created from Aloe Vera extract. This study contributes to the economical and environmentally friendly green synthesis of CuO NPs by thoroughly investigating synthesis parameters and operating parameters. Using methylene blue (MB) as a model dye, the photocatalytic characteristics of the resulting nanoparticles were examined. The synthesis factors influencing photocatalytic activity efficiency were examined, and the best circumstances were established. When the CuO photocatalyst developed under optimal conditions was used, the degradation efficiency of MB dye was 18.39%, 98.53%, and 83.46% for dark, UV, and visible light, respectively for 90 min reaction time. The influence of catalyst quantity, dye concentration, and reusability on operational parameters was then investigated. This environmentally friendly synthesis process is affordable and simple to utilize for commercial production of CuO NP on a large scale for applications connected to health.
