Enhancing Measurement Precision of Non-Degenerate Two-Photon Absorption

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Abstract Non-classical light may enhance the resolution of optical measurements. Here, we analyze non-degenerate two-photon absorption signals obtained from transmission measurements with two-mode squeezed states of light. In particular, we investigate how correlations between the light modes may be used to improve the achievable precision. We show that the measurement of intensity correlations offers the best performance in comparison to the normalized intensity correlation and noise reduction factor measurements. In addition, we show that the normalized intensity correlation of the two modes is robust against linear photon losses, but this comes at the cost of losing the enhancement from intensity correlations. Thus, we establish a trade-off between suppressing the effects of detrimental losses and the achievable quantum advantage.
