Genomic Fit and Environmental Mismatch: The Tradeoff Model of Polygenic Operating Range

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Why do "harmless" common genetic variants trigger catastrophic failures under specific environmental stress? Moving beyond reductionist "one-variant-one-disease" paradigms, this monograph introduces the Tradeoff Model of Polygenic Operating Range. It reframes common polymorphisms (SNPs) as conditional modifiers of a system's collective buffering capacity, proposing that unique genomic limits actively dictate the boundaries of vital, state-dependent clearing cycles. The paper introduces the mechanism of environmental amplifiers, demonstrating that pathology matures when these inherited genetic constraints intersect an uncompleted chronological recovery cycle. Finally, it leverages recent convergent data linking organophosphorus pesticide exposure, gut microbial depletion, and neuroexcitatory shunting to illustrate these multi-node genomic interactions.
