Stoic Lifestyle Intervention for Executive Stress Management: Structure, Daily Practice, and Evaluation Approaches
Abstract
Executives work in environments that combine high information flow, scarce recovery, and continuous evaluation. The result is chronic stress that impairs concentration, emotional stability, and decision-making. Established stress programmes often fail in executive contexts because they require fixed practice times or guided sessions that are not sustainable in a dense workday. This article presents a lifestyle intervention based on Stoic principles, designed for direct integration into professional life. It comprises seven modules: prioritisation, single-task focusing, reduction of external stimuli, independence from external evaluation, focus on the controllable, emotional self-reflection, and gratitude-based attention regulation. Each module is linked to established mechanisms — cognitive control, attention focusing, emotional differentiation, meaning-oriented coping. The article outlines the structure, practical application, and suitable evaluation methods: psychometric scales, biological markers, behavioural indicators.
