From Celestial Configuration to Effective Environment: A Formal Analysis of Medium, Delay and Individuation in Deep-Sea Life - The Deep-Sea Astrological Conjecture as a Conditional Thought Experiment
Abstract
Any system that holds celestial states to influence life, whatever its empirical standing, implicitly assumes something very strong in physical terms: that the environment is transparent to external signals, so that the input received by an organism equals the celestial state itself. This paper writes that assumption as a transfer operator and, under a premise explicitly marked as conditional, namely that some as yet unrecognised coupling between celestial states and life exists, asks what becomes of it in the deep ocean. Two results follow. The first is a natal decoupling theorem: when the environmental memory kernel carries a long delay, the correlation between the celestial configuration at the moment of birth and the effective environment the organism actually enters tends to zero, while the variance of that effective environment is unchanged; information is not lost, it corresponds to a different moment. The second is an individuating variance collapse theorem: when the cut-off period of the environmental filter exceeds the generational window, the between-individual variance within a cohort that external forcing can explain is compressed to the square of the filter gain. Substituting these into a channel decomposition of the transfer function at eight kilometres depth (optical, electromagnetic, gravitational, material transport) yields a concrete conclusion: in the hadal zone the only astronomical inputs that can physically individuate are the tidal potential and low-frequency geomagnetic variation, both dominated by the Sun and Moon, with planetary contributions suppressed below 10⁻⁵ by the cube law of the tidal potential, and neither of them optical. The paper further shows that storage across multiple carriers necessarily yields a power-law memory kernel, thereby reducing three originally parallel hypotheses to a single chain of dependence, and it supplies a list of measurable quantities together with five predictions carrying explicit falsification conditions. In substance the paper does not support astrology; it yields a constraint in the opposite direction: any astrological system that seeks to be physicalised must abandon universality. Stripped of its conditional shell, its general proposition belongs to the theory of environmental signal transmission: the external environment an open system experiences is not the external environment itself, but its image after transmission through a medium.
