Essential Writings: Five Decades of Research in Seismic Exploration

Abstract

This preprint presents a curated collection of selected works spanning more than five decades of research in seismic exploration, from the late 1970s to 2026. The collection covers reflected-wave kinematics, travel-time field derivatives, velocity estimation, seismic data processing and interpretation, Prony filtering, migration and demigration, diffraction imaging, multifocusing, seismic stratigraphic stacking, spectral methods, seismic imaging, and inverse problems. A substantial part of this research is associated with the development of computational algorithms and their implementation in the CubeTechnology seismic processing and interpretation system. The collection also includes recent theoretical research on inverse dynamic and inverse coefficient problems for wave propagation in viscoelastic media. The purpose of the collection is to illustrate the development and interconnection of the principal research directions pursued by the author over more than five decades and to provide convenient access to the corresponding publications, books, research materials, software-related developments, and open datasets. The collection is intended for researchers and specialists in seismic exploration, geophysics, seismic data processing and interpretation, applied mathematics, wave propagation, and inverse problems.
