Fungal infection leading to pulmonary inflammation
Open access0 citations
Abstract
This study investigates how gut microbiota-derived metabolites modulate pulmonary immune responses to Aspergillus fumigatus infection. We employed a multi-omics approach to characterize the functional impact of antibiotic-altered gut microbial communities on lung inflammation in a murine model of intranasal fungal challenge. Fecal 16S rRNA gene sequencing was performed to profile bacterial community composition across distinct antibiotic regimens, while targeted metabolomics of fecal samples and untargeted metabolomics of serum were conducted to capture systemic metabolic shifts, with a focus on tryptophan-indole derivatives.
