Koru Credentialing Velocity Index (Q3 2026): A quarterly benchmark of how fast healthcare organizations actually move from hire to revenue

Abstract

This is the first release of the Koru Credentialing Velocity Index, a new quarterly benchmark tracking howquickly healthcare organizations actually move from hire to billable revenue. Existing credentialingstatistics are typically cited once and then treated as current indefinitely, even though the underlyingconditions, hiring pressure, payer behavior, and staffing markets, shift every quarter. This index applies thesame recurring discipline healthcare organizations already use to track revenue and churn. The Q3 2026 baseline synthesizes previously published data from CAQH, AAPPR, and AMN Healthcarealongside industry estimated figures established in Koru Research Institute's first two reports, finding thataverage new patient appointment wait times have reached 31 days, up 19 percent since 2022, against anindustry estimated credentialing cycle of 90 to 120 days from hire to billable status and a median physiciantime to fill of 93 to 135 days depending on specialty. Beginning with the Q4 2026 release, the index willtrack quarter over quarter movement in each metric, replacing a single frozen citation with a benchmarkhealthcare executives and their boards can return to every quarter.
