A Giant 13-cm Lung Abscess with an Air-Fluid Level Managed Conservatively: A Case Report

Abstract

A giant lung abscess with an air-fluid level managed conservatively: a case report. This poster presents the clinical, laboratory, microbiological, and radiological course of a patient with a giant cavitary lung lesion managed with medical therapy. Despite the large size of the abscess, the patient demonstrated clinical and radiological improvement with conservative treatment, without the need for percutaneous drainage or surgical intervention. Serial chest radiographs and computed tomography demonstrate the radiological evolution during treatment and follow-up. The case highlights the importance of individualized patient selection, close clinical monitoring, and appropriate antimicrobial and supportive therapy in the management of large lung abscesses.
