Abstract

The U.S. Department of Justice's effort to combat fraud in federally funded health care programs has ensnared the operator of an Illinois methadone clinic accused of orchestrating millions of dollars in improper billing and diverting proceeds from Medicaid payments for personal use. The criminal charges against ODA Solutions founder and CEO Daniel Robinson fuel concern around oversight of Medicaid spending but also generate worry in the provider community that public perception of the extent of fraud in health care overstates the problem.
