Breakthrough at the FAO: Voluntary guidelines on the right to food adopted

Abstract

On September 23rd 2004, the Committee on World Food Security of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) adopted the text of the Voluntary Guidelines for the Implementation of the Right to Adequate Food. The Voluntary Guidelines are an important new instrument in the combat against hunger because they challenge one of the main causes of hunger, the lack of political will of governments.
