Review links food insecurity with poorer well-being among adults with cancer

This systematic review examined food insecurity among adults living with cancer and its relationship with quality of life, mental health, and cancer-care outcomes. Across seven observational studies, food insecurity was associated with poorer quality of life, more depressive symptoms or distress, financial strain, and difficulty accessing adequate food or medicines. These findings show associations and do not establish that food insecurity caused the reported outcomes.

Study links loneliness and multiple physical conditions in both directions

In a study of adults aged 45 and older from 19 countries, researchers found that multiple physical health conditions and loneliness were associated with one another over time in both directions. Social inactivity appeared to statistically mediate part of the association from physical multimorbidity to later loneliness. The observational design cannot establish cause and effect.
