Agent Aptness Framework (AAF 1.0): A Task-Specific Framework for Evaluating Agent-Task Correspondence
Abstract
The Agent Aptness Framework (AAF 1.0) provides a task-specific method for evaluating the degree of correspondence between an agent’s demonstrated characteristics and the stated requirements of a particular assignment. AAF distinguishes agent capability from agent–task aptness and evaluates correspondence across five dimensions: skill, knowledge, tool compatibility, environment compatibility and reliability evidence. It produces a fit classification from A0 — Unassessed to A5 — Demonstrated Fit. The framework treats critical requirements as non-compensable: strength across other dimensions cannot override failure in an essential requirement. AAF is intended to support documented agent comparison, evaluation, routing and assignment analysis while remaining distinct from authority, permissions, execution approval and domain-specific safety evaluation. AptyAgent.com is the public conceptual interface for Agent Aptness and AAF 1.0. It presents the framework, its terminology, assessment dimensions, classification model and worked application example.
