The Effect of Root Canal Irrigation Solutions on Surface Roughness and Microhardness of Biodentine
Abstract
Aim It was aimed to evaluate the effect of a continuous chelation protocol (HEBP/NaOCl) on the microhardness and roughness of Biodentine used for root perforation repair.Material and method Biodentine discs (N=76; 5 mm × 2 mm) were fabricated per manufacturer’s instructions and finished under standardized conditions. Specimens were randomly assigned (n=19/group) to: distilled water (control), 2.5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), 9% etidronic acid (HEBP), and mixed HEBP/NaOCl; all exposures were 5 min (10 mL). Samples were rinsed with distilled water, then incubated at 37 °C/100% humidity for 24 h. Surface roughness and microhardness of the specimens were measured.
