This Viewpoint discusses the potential for consumer-facing digital health technologies to influence health-related decisions; highlights the regulatory challenges posed by their increased use; and calls for regulatory standards for these technologies that are evidence-based, transparent, understandable by consumers, and proportionate to potential benefits and harms.
