The Collapse of Time: When Decoherence Meets Chronon
Abstract
Quantum superposition describes possibilities that coexist until interactions enforce a selection. If observation collapses the wave function, what collapses time itself ? We explore the hypothesis that temporal flow is coherence-dependent: it emerges and erodes with the stability of quantum phase. We introduce the concept of a local temporal collapse rate and posit a minimal coupling to the Chronon Field, which acts as the local beat of reality. In this model, the overall rate of temporal collapse is determined by combining standard environmental noise with a proportional coupling to the Chronon Field. This field carries the physical dimension of an inverse time. Where coherence decays, time loses continuity; where it remains stable, time breathes smoothly. The arrow of time thus becomes a measurable property of quantum synchronization, representing the fundamental beat of existence itself.
