Sound sensors detected leaks in carbon-dioxide pipelines and valves
In experiments on a six-metre carbon-dioxide pipeline with bends, joints and valves, sound sensors detected leaks and located their sources. The researchers estimated annual savings of $225,482 for monitoring one valve and about $18.9 million for monitoring pipelines, using December 2025 carbon-dioxide prices.
