A sugar-derived additive helps zinc–iron flow batteries run for over 500 cycles
A study in Nano-Micro Letters finds that isomalt, a sugar-derived additive, improved the operation of alkaline zinc–iron flow batteries. Batteries using the additive cycled for over 500 cycles at 20 mA cm⁻² and reached 87.5% energy efficiency in full-cell tests.
