A study comparing Kazakhstan, the United States, Germany and India examines when online harassment may lead to criminal liability in cases involving suicide. It finds that digital records can help establish authorship, knowledge, sequence, autonomy and causation, but their effect depends on the law being applied.
Richmond’s Peacemaker Fellowship was associated with a 61.47% reduction in fatal and nonfatal firearm assaults over 14 years, compared with a weighted group of similar US cities. The reduction appeared to grow after the program expanded, but the study cannot establish that the program alone caused the decline.
A new analysis of US high school survey data found that teens who reported carrying firearms had higher odds of reporting a suicide attempt in the past 12 months. The association remained after adjusting for race and ethnicity and the strength of state firearm laws.
