Review reports regional differences in children who inhale foreign objects in sub-Saharan Africa

Researchers reviewed studies of 748 children in sub-Saharan Africa who had confirmed foreign objects in their airways. They reported regional differences in the types of objects involved, along with an overall reported death rate of about 2%, but the evidence was limited and varied between studies.
