Researchers report fewer shingles cases after LZ901 vaccination in adults 40 and older
A randomized, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial studied the LZ901 vaccine in 26,018 adults aged 40 and older. Over 12 months, 15 people in the vaccine group and 178 in the placebo group developed confirmed shingles, corresponding to a reported vaccine efficacy of 91.6%. More short-term injection-site and systemic reactions occurred after LZ901, but grade 3 reactions were uncommon in both groups.
