Phosphogypsum waste can be turned into calcium carbonate for metalmaking
Researchers report a way to convert phosphogypsum, a large-volume waste from phosphate processing, into calcium carbonate with particle sizes suited to filtration and possible use in metalmaking. Under the reported conditions, the process reached 98.8% conversion and produced a product with a D90 particle size of 45 micrometres.
