Spatially explicit modeling of future land use and land cover dynamics in the São Francisco River Basin, Brazil

Future land use and land cover (LULC) changes in major Brazilian river basins may pose substantial challenges for water resource management by altering streamflow regimes, reducing water availability, affecting ecosystem services, and increasing pressure on vulnerable hydrologica...

Upcycling pharmaceutical capsules into porous activated carbon and activated carbon ash for efficient emerging contaminant removal

The management of pharmaceutical waste remains a significant challenge and presents opportunities for the development of value-added materials. In this study, discarded pharmaceutical gelatin capsules were converted into activated carbons and Ti-rich inorganic residues through se...

Intelligent Steel Surface Defect Segmentation for Edge-Oriented IIoT Quality Control

Automated surface defect detection in hot-rolled steel is a prerequisite for real-time quality control, yet most deployed inspection systems operate in isolation from Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) infrastructure. This paper reports a laboratory-scale proof of concept with...

Heat transfer/pressure drop correlations and core optimization of airfoil tube heat exchangers

Abstract This study proposes a methodology for acquiring heat transfer and pressure drop correlations for compact heat exchangers (HXs), leveraging modern manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing to enable unconventional geometries and to support preliminary design...

Enhancing agricultural aviation safety analysis: a knowledge graph and ontology-based approach to systemic accident pattern detection

Abstract Brazilian agricultural aviation combines one of the world’s largest fleets with a rising accident rate, yet existing safety analyses remain predominantly descriptive and single-event in scope. This paper proposes and demonstrates a knowledge graph and ontology-based fram...

The Division Operation and The Extended Alpha Group: Exploring Deeper Dimensions

In the historical development of various fields of mathematics, significant advances have occurred in areas such as algebra, abstract algebra, group theory, and numerous other mathematical and scientific domains. Contributions from mathematicians such as Diophantus, Goldbach, Eul...
