DESIGN THINKING AS A TOOL FOR DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ THINKING SKILLS
Abstract
The article examines design thinking as a pedagogical tool for developing students’ thinking and problem-solving skills. The aim of the paper is to analyze the educational potential of the stages of design thinking—empathy, problem definition, idea generation, prototyping, and testing. Based on examples from different subject areas, particularly in the contexts of teaching mathematics, history, and natural sciences, it is demonstrated that this approach helps students understand problems, generate alternative solutions, put their own ideas into practice, and evaluate and improve the results obtained. The paper demonstrates that design thinking contributes to the development of students’ critical, creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
