Spin-Boson Link Absent: Golden Ratio Continued Fractions Yield No Direct Model Result — E8 Intelligence Research

Open access0 citations

Abstract

FINDING: The search results are dominated by pedagogical and recreational treatments of the golden ratio's continued fraction, with one substantive research paper linking Rogers–Ramanujan continued fractions to the solution of the general quintic — but **no direct spin-boson model result** appears. The spin-boson query is unfulfilled; the evidence is purely about φ and its algebraic extensions. MATH: - Golden ratio continued fraction: φ = [1; 1, 1, 1, …] = 1 + 1/(1 + 1/(1 + …)), satisfying φ = 1 + 1/φ → φ² − φ − 1 = 0 → φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.6180339887. - Convergents: Fₙ₊₁/Fₙ → φ, where Fₙ are Fibonacci numbers. - Rogers–Ramanujan continued fraction (arXiv:1510.00068v2): R(q) = q^(1/5)/(1 + q/(1 + q²/(1 + q³/(1 + …)))), |q| < 1. The paper expresses a root of the general quintic x⁵ + ax + b = 0 as an algebraic function of R(q) — specifically using modular equations and the fact that R(q) satisfies a quintic relation. - No spin-boson equations, renormalization factors, or exa Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
