Small wind power for alpine pastures, farms and residential buildings in South Tyrol
Abstract
This independent working paper examines the technical, economic and organisational conditions for assessing small wind power at alpine pasture facilities, farms, and residential or hospitality properties in South Tyrol. The documentary analysis distinguishes site-specific wind resources, consumption profiles, net generation, self-consumption, storage, component compatibility and total costs. All-in-one systems are considered a potential means of simplifying selected interfaces, without assuming that a photovoltaic-and-storage package is automatically compatible with a wind turbine. Chinese manufacturers’ offerings and European commercial examples are treated as market options rather than purchasing recommendations or independently verified performance. An original economic example presents three hypothetical generation scenarios, distinguishing energy value, running costs, replacement expenditure and net present value. The paper also proposes a decision matrix and a possible voluntary, manufacturer-independent regional pilot platform. The possible involvement of the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce, HGV and Südtiroler Bauernbund is the author’s proposal. It does not imply existing agreements, funding, endorsement or commitments. The paper presents no original measurements and does not certify the suitability of sites or systems. It is not an engineering implementation design, legal opinion or purchase recommendation. It has not undergone peer review. AI assistance is disclosed in the document; responsibility for the content, sources and conclusions remains with the author.
