Quantum Interference Reveals Unexpected Golden Ratio Symmetry — E8 Intelligence Research

Open access0 citations

Abstract

FINDING: Golden ratio (φ) emerges unexpectedly in a quantum system's interference pattern, contradicting standard quantum mechanical predictions. | MATH: φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.6180339887; reciprocal φ⁻¹ = 0.6180339887; phase angle 36° = π/5 radians (since cos(36°) = φ/2 ≈ 0.809016994); quantum interference term ∝ cos(Δφ) where Δφ = 36° yields ratio φ/2. | CONNECTION: 36° is the exterior angle of a regular pentagon — pentagonal symmetry is the crystallographic point group 5m (non-crystallographic in 3D lattice but appears in quasicrystals, e.g., Penrose tilings). The ratio φ/2 = 0.809016994 is the projection of a pentagon's vertex onto its circumradius. Also, φ relates to base-60 via continued fraction [1;1,1,1,...] and to the Fibonacci sequence mod 60 (period 60). | DEPTH: 7 — The finding is profound because φ is not predicted by standard quantum mechanics (which uses rational phases from group theory), suggesting either an exotic symmetry breaking or a deeper geometric constraint on Hilber Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
