A numerical conjecture for the density of cold matter: ω_D = h√(4ω_b/3) tested with CMB, BAO and supernovae
Abstract
Paper C of a series on the Informational Vector World Model (IVW). Version 1.3, 16 October 2026. In the IVW, cold matter is not a separate particle species but the conserved charge of a shift-symmetric field of the network (network dust; in the literature: cold dark matter). The action of the model does not fix its amount. This paper tests the numerical conjecture ω_D = h√(4ω_b/3), equivalent to Ω_c² = (4/3) Ω_b, which rests on an estimate by Verlinde. Results: With the compressed CMB condition, DESI DR2 BAO and supernovae, the relation is as good as ΛCDM with one parameter fewer (Δχ² = +0.35). With the Planck spectra (plik_lite) it trails by Δχ² = 3.7; the predicted ω_c lies 1.9σ below the ΛCDM value. A further test fixed in advance (K30; SHA-256 checksum frozen before the fits) with ACT DR6 and SPT-3G D1, each together with DESI BAO, gives Δχ² = +1.00 (ACT), +0.35 (SPT) and +0.08 (both); by the rule fixed in advance the conjecture holds. Without BAO, ACT DR6 alone is borderline (Δχ² of at most about 7 to 8.5, i.e. 2.6 to 2.9σ), SPT-3G alone gives +1.70. An attempt to derive the relation from the network law did not succeed: only the form Ω_c ∝ √Ω_b without h follows, and only under additional assumptions; the factor 4/3 is not derived. As a law valid at all times the relation is excluded by the CMB. What this paper does not show: that the amount of cold matter follows from the baryons; an analysis with the full Planck likelihood (the ACT and SPT tests use lite likelihoods and a profile likelihood instead of an MCMC run); why the relation should hold in the present epoch; a blind test (that the relation holds to within a few per cent was known before the pre-registrations). No result has yet been recomputed by others. Included: the paper in German and English (PDF), a computation script (German and English output) that recomputes the re-computable numbers and checks 66 of them against the text, README and requirements files. The CMB fits themselves are not recomputed; the script holds their stored results with SHA-256 checksums. Fassung 1.3, 16. Oktober 2026.
