INTEGRASI PENDIDIKAN AGAMA DAN PENDIDIKAN UMUM DALAM KURIKULUM PONDOK PESANTREN MODERN

Abstract

The integration of religious education and general education is one of the important characteristics in the development of the curriculum of modern Islamic boarding schools. The integration is carried out as an effort to produce students who not only have a good understanding of religion, but also have general knowledge, skills, and the ability to deal with the development of science and technology. This research aims to analyze the form, implementation, benefits, and challenges of integrating religious education and general education in the curriculum of modern Islamic boarding schools. This study uses a literature review method by analyzing various relevant sources, such as books, journal articles, and previous research on Islamic boarding school education and the development of Islamic education curriculum. The results of the study show that integration is carried out through the combination of religious and general subjects, the integration of Islamic values in the learning process, and the formation of character through Islamic boarding school life activities. This integration provides benefits in forming students who have a balance between spiritual, intellectual, social, and skill aspects. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, such as limited educators, time management, infrastructure, and adjustments between the national curriculum and the peculiarities of Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, the development of the pesantren curriculum needs to be carried out in a sustainable manner while maintaining Islamic values while adapting them to modern educational needs.
