Towards an Indigenous Geographies Agenda in Abya Yala? Epistemic‐Political Debates From Argentina

Open access4 citations

Abstract

ABSTRACT The authors of this proposal are Spanish‐speaking geographers concerned with Indigenous issues in different provinces of Argentina (Córdoba, Santa Fe, Buenos Aires). This work aims to present the main discussions that have been taking place in that country within the field of geography and concerning different native peoples. To this end, it recovers dialogues with authors from Latin America and incorporates them in order to develop more clearly the socio‐historical and academic‐institutional context in which these thematic approaches in formation are taking place. Although its development is still incipient, its potentialities are identified on the basis of six axes that emerged during two specific academic meetings: the XVIII Encuentro de Geógrafos de América Latina (EGAL) and the I Jornadas de Geografías Indígenas en Argentina . These events constitute a central input that allows us to begin to identify points of encounters, disagreements and the construction of a knowledge agenda on the subject in our country.
