The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Research-Based Educational Products

0 citations

Abstract

This special issue brings together 11 manuscripts that examine the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in research-based educational products and practices, with particular attention to students with disabilities and the educators who support them. Across empirical studies, systematic and theoretical reviews, and technology-in-action pieces, contributing authors explore how AI can support implementation fidelity, professional development, writing instruction, mathematics, personalized learning, coaching, feedback, accessibility, and educational technology development. Rather than positioning AI as a replacement for educators, researchers, or human judgment, this issue emphasizes human-centered design, evidence-based implementation, transparency, accessibility, and ongoing evaluation. Collectively, the articles highlight both the opportunities and limitations of AI, underscoring the need for responsible innovation that improves usability, feasibility, effectiveness, and equity while carefully addressing concerns about privacy, bias, reliability, and academic integrity.
