Beneath Sant Feliu: Water, Roads and the Case for a Lost Roman City near Barcelona (Rubricata Series · Essay 1)

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Beneath Sant Feliu brings together archaeological remains, historical cartography, ancient roads, water infrastructure and urban form to explore the case for a lost Roman city near Barcelona. Rather than treating the known sites as isolated finds, it examines how they may have functioned as parts of a connected settlement system. The essay identifies central Sant Feliu de Llobregat as a focus for further investigation and develops the territorial framework of the Rubricata series. English edition of Essay 1 in the Rubricata series, 11 October 2026. Original Catalan edition: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23296691. Maps and diagrams are presented in English; historical facsimiles retain their original inscriptions. Albert Ferrer Jiménez is an urban planner and public communicator.
