CULTURAL IMAGES OF DOCTORS AND HEALERS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK MEDICAL APHORISMS

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Medical aphorisms reflect cultural beliefs and attitudes toward health, illness, and medical treatment. Among their important themes are the roles of doctors and healers in society. These figures are often represented as people who possess knowledge, provide care, prevent illness, and help patients recover. However, their images may also reflect traditional beliefs, moral expectations, and different understandings of healing. This article explores the cultural images of doctors and healers in English and Uzbek medical aphorisms. It discusses the relationship between medical knowledge, professional responsibility, traditional healing, and cultural values. The article also considers the importance of these images in understanding the similarities and differences between English and Uzbek cultural perspectives. It argues that medical aphorisms provide useful material for studying how societies understand the role of those who care for the sick.
