Synthesis of Sulfonic Acid-Functionalized Al 2 O 3 /Poly(BMA-co-SMA-co-DAP) Resin and Its Rapid Selective Adsorption of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons in the Oil Phase
Abstract
Chemical additives introduced during the crude oil extraction stage can easily lead to elevated levels of organochlorine compounds, causing problems such as equipment corrosion and catalyst poisoning. Here, we explore a novel sulfonic acid-functionalized Al2O3/P(BMA-co-SMA-co-DAP) adsorbent material designed to achieve highly selective and rapid adsorption of organochlorine compounds in the oil phase. By grafting silane-pre-modified nanoparticles (KH580@Al2O3) onto the P(BMA-co-SMA-co-DAP) resin framework to enrich its active sites, and oxidizing thiol groups with H2O2 to generate sulfonic acid groups, specific adsorption of organochlorines is achieved. For three typical organic chlorine compounds in a mixed organic solvent, the material showed saturation adsorption capacities of 21.18 g/g, 8.67 g/g, and 6.92 g/g, with corresponding removal rates of 85.13%, 82.54%, and 55.30%, respectively. Furthermore, when applied to crude oil from the southwestern oil and gas fields of China, the removal efficiency for total organic chlorine compounds reached 85.98%. After six adsorption–desorption cycles, the decrease in removal efficiency was less than 4% in all cases. Furthermore, the modified material achieved an adsorption rate of over 70% within 30 min, demonstrating outstanding initial adsorption performance, which provides theoretical support for the rapid removal of organic chlorine from the oil phase and for industrial deep purification.
