Equivalent contraction principles in metric spaces

Abstract

Abstract The aim of the present note is to show that three distinguished extensions of the Banach fixed point theorem are actually equivalent statements. The key tool of the proofs is to redefine properly the metric of the underlying space. We prove the same result also in ultrametric spaces.
