A candidate identity for UNK-g in the Trypanosoma brucei mitoribosome: a public-data research summary

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Public structural records contain a mitochondrial ribosome assembly component whose gene identity remains unassigned in the records examined. A computational comparison nominates Q38DP6 (Tb927.9.11350) as a candidate for this component, UNK-g, in Trypanosoma brucei. Structural resemblance, compatibility with the deposited density, and published proteomic observations support the nomination, but they do not establish the assignment. Several structural assessments reuse the same observations, and a custom sequence-assessment statistic is not calibrated sufficiently to provide a confirmation probability. This note records the candidate and the limits of the evidence. It does not establish a molecular function, direct interaction, or therapeutic application.
