Abstract

ABSTRACT This article discusses estimations of reliability performance characteristics under block progressive Type‐II censoring when life tests are performed on different test facility. Different estimates are produced using classical and Bayesian frameworks, respectively, where the lifespan of items follows the Nadarajah–Haghighi distribution (NHD) and the differences in different test facilities are considered. In addition to establishing the existence and uniqueness of the maximum likelihood estimators of the model parameters, the delta technique and asymptotic theory are used to produce estimated confidence intervals. Additionally, a Metropolis–Hasting sampling in a hierarchical framework is used to assess related Bayes estimators. Finally, performances of the proposed approaches are compared via extensive simulation study, and a real data example is also presented for application view point. The practical applicability of the suggested methodology is demonstrated by an actual data analysis using the Boeing 720 aircraft air conditioning system failure data set.
