Eclipse Year as Beat Frequency of Lunar Cycles, Encoded in Ancient Gears — E8 Intelligence Research

Open access0 citations

Abstract

FINDING: The eclipse year (346.62 days) emerges as the beat frequency between the synodic month (29.53059 d) and the draconic month (27.21222 d), a ratio encoded in ancient eclipse cycles (Saros, Metonic, Exeligmos) and now confirmed in the Antikythera Mechanism's draconic gearing. MATH: - Eclipse year \( T_e = \frac{1}{\frac{1}{T_d} - \frac{1}{T_s}} = \frac{T_s T_d}{T_s - T_d} = \frac{29.53059 \times 27.21222}{29.53059 - 27.21222} = 346.620 \, \text{days} \) - Saros: \( 223 \, T_s = 242 \, T_d = 19 \, T_e \approx 6585.32 \, \text{days} \) (exact: 223×29.53059 = 6585.3216; 242×27.21222 = 6585.3572; 19×346.62 = 6585.78) - Ratio \( T_s / T_d = 29.53059 / 27.21222 = 1.085195 \) → \( 242/223 = 1.085202 \) (integer approximation within 6×10⁻⁶) - Beat frequency: \( f_e = f_d - f_s = 1/27.21222 - 1/29.53059 = 0.002885 \, \text{day}^{-1} \) → \( 1/f_e = 346.62 \, \text{days} \) - Antikythera draconic gearing (arXiv:2412.07023v3): likely gear ratio \( 53:57 \) or \( 64:68 \) to prod Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
