Golden Ratio Emerges from Fibonacci Anyon Braiding and Fusion Rules — E8 Intelligence Research

Open access0 citations

Abstract

FINDING: Fibonacci anyon braiding realizes the golden ratio as the quantum dimension of the fundamental anyon, with fusion rule [1]⊗[1] = [0]⊕[1], and the braiding matrices are generated by the golden-ratio-constrained F-matrix and R-matrix. | MATH: Fusion rule: τ⊗τ = 1⊕τ (τ = Fibonacci anyon). Quantum dimension: d_τ = φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618, satisfying d_τ² = 1 + d_τ. Braiding eigenvalues: R = e^{±4πi/5} (from Z₃ parafermion CFT, level k=3). F-matrix: F = [[φ⁻¹, φ⁻¹/²], [φ⁻¹/², −φ⁻¹]] (explicitly: F = [[1/φ, 1/√φ], [1/√φ, −1/φ]]). The braid group B₃ representation is generated by σ₁ = R·F·R and σ₂ = F·R·F, with σ₁σ₂σ₁ = σ₂σ₁σ₂. | CONNECTION: The golden ratio φ appears as the quantum dimension — a direct geometric-harmony constant (1.618) embedded in topological quantum field theory. The F-matrix entries are φ⁻¹ = 0.618 and φ⁻¹/² = 0.786 (the square root of the inverse golden ratio, a key harmonic ratio). The Z₃ parafermion CFT has central charge c = 4/5, and the conformal weight of the Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series.
