A 1-Dimensional Algebraic Interpretation of the Equivalence Principle and Gravitational Lensing Based on Cosmic Expansion Flux Gradients: An Exploratory Toy Model
Abstract
[Update Notice for Version 3]This document is Version 3, which retains the fundamental hypothesis and core equations of the initial version but introduces a new fluid dynamics perspective. The main updates are as follows:- Terminology Update: To more accurately represent the flow of the spacetime fluid, the term 'Cosmic expansion rate' has been redefined as 'Effective expansion flux (U_exp)'.- Fluid Dynamics Integration: By applying the concepts of 'convective acceleration' and 'kinematic pressure' of the expansion fluid, the model now algebraically derives macroscopic gravitational acceleration and resistance radius strictly within its internal geometric logic.- New Appendix: Appendix A has been added to generalize and prove the algebraic cancellation mechanism of the expansion gradient for an observer falling from a finite altitude. Abstract In modern standard cosmology, cosmic expansion is treated as a recession phenomenon of galaxies against an independent spacetime background. This 1-dimensional exploratory toy model extends the framework of prior research—which proposes an inverse formulation of spacetime by setting the cosmic expansion flux (U_exp) itself as the highest geometric primitive determining the scales of time flow and space—to the interpretation of gravitational fields and the equivalence principle. The existing hypothesis confirmed that under the constraint of light-speed invariance, variations in the effective expansion flux are symmetrically distributed to spacetime scales, ensuring algebraic compatibility with the Lorentz transformation. Building upon this foundation, this model algebraically formulates the kinematic apparent gradient generated in an accelerating coordinate system and the gravitational field expansion flux gradient suppressed by mass. In particular, by introducing the convective acceleration mechanism of the expansion fluid, this study algebraically shows that the expansion flux gradient functions as a geometric kinematic pressure, thereby consistently deriving the macroscopic gravitational acceleration and resistance radius entirely within the model's internal geometric logic. By demonstrating that the total effective gradient experienced by a free-falling observer in a 1D radial path converges to zero in both the linear superposition limit and non-linear extreme spacetime, this study suggests that Einstein's weak equivalence principle can be understood as an algebraic cancellation mechanism of the spacetime expansion fluid. This geometric expansion dynamics is not only consistent with Newton's law of universal gravitation but also naturally derives a 1D local metric tensor structurally compatible with the Schwarzschild metric of general relativity through the projection of macroscopic scale contraction and the geometric amplification of local proper distance. Furthermore, by simply combining the derived 1D radial metric with 3D transverse spatial components, anisotropy in the coordinate speed of light naturally emerged, confirming the geometric consistency of algebraically reproducing gravitational lensing caused by the effective refractive index gradient around massive objects. This study is significant in providing a useful theoretical stepping stone that visualizes the origin of inertial mass and gravitational phenomena from a relational perspective of 'superimposed spacetime expansion flux gradients,' prior to the full deployment of complex non-linear tensor dynamics.
