Toward transparent rigid packaging from sugarcane bagasse: a consistency-testing framework for nanocellulose-chitosan sheets
Abstract
A theoretical and computational study. No experiments were performed; every parameter range is traced to a cited source or stated as an assumption, and every output is a screening estimate rather than a prediction of material behaviour. Prepared for submission to Cellulose (Springer). Version 1.1.1 follows a third-party language edit of version 1.1.0. What changed in 1.1.1. The language edit was merged paragraph by paragraph (manuscript/merge_language_edit.py). A paragraph of the edit is accepted only if it keeps the same content words, numbers, symbols, equation text and sub/superscripts as the source; otherwise the source is kept with American spelling. Of 104 paragraphs the edit changed, 47 were accepted and 57 kept from the source, including every reference entry it altered (titles are verified Crossref records). Rejected edits had, for example, removed the symbol a from the threshold sentence, changed 'caps the tolerated tensile strain' to 'decreases', turned 'the hydration' into 'hydrated', deleted the list of verification checks and changed 'ambient' to 'ambient temperature'. Supporting Information and the cover letter were given American spelling to match. The manuscript is now TNCC_Cellulose_Manuscript_v5. No model, parameter, result or figure changed: results.json, the figure-data tables and the 58 verification checks are identical to version 1.1.0. The study applies three consistency screens (optical, wet stiffness, forming) to a proposed bagasse CNF-chitosan-wax architecture, with a seeded Monte Carlo analysis (200,000 samples, seed 20261002), surface and coarse-population sensitivity, seven prior schemes, thickness coupling, a bounded wax-layer test, and a requirement for the cup (flange wrinkling strain above 0.64; strain budgets: tray 0.26, bowl 0.67, cup 1.10). Liquid containment remains untested, so all feasibility results are provisional.
